TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF HIRE.

The following Terms and Conditions apply to all vehicles hired and bookings made by any individual with Fraser Island 4×4 Hire.

 

SECURITY BOND

We require a $1,500 security bond on the vehicle that is Pre-Authorised on a credit card, this can also be done in cash. The Pre-Authorisation is lifted 5 business days after the date of the final day of hire. Should you require release of funds sooner, application for early release must be made prior to departure from Fraser Island 4×4 Hire premises on the first booked day of hire.

PLEASE NOTE – IF THE HIRE IS FOR GREATER THAN 5 WORKING DAYS, THE SECURITY BOND MUST BE PAID TO FRASER ISLAND 4X4 HIRE IN FULL PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE’S DEPARTURE. DEPOSIT WILL BE REFUNDED UPON SATISFACTORY ‘RETURN CHECK-IN’ PROCEDURE BEING COMPLETED. ‘RETURN CHECK-IN’ PROCEDURE WILL BE PERFORMED BY FRASER ISLAND 4X4 HIRE STAFF WITHIN 24 HOURS OF SAFE RETURN OF THE VEHICLE.

CANCELLATION POLICY AND FEES

Bookings cancelled more than 10 days prior to vehicle pick up will incur an administration fee of $25 per vehicle package

Bookings cancelled less than 7 days prior to vehicle pick up will incur a cancellation fee of $75 per vehicle package

Bookings cancelled less than 72 hours prior to vehicle pick up will be charged as follows:

2 Day Hire – $100

3 Day Hire – $125

4 Day Hire – $150

5 Day Hire – $175

REFUND POLICY

Although we are extremely sorry for any of your valuable time lost due to a mechanical failure not caused by your own actions, we must stress that Fraser Island is an extremely harsh off road environment and mechanical failures can happen to even the newest cars, despite the best maintenance practices.

REFUND DUE TO LOSS OF HIRE TIME

We will, wherever possible, replace the vehicle as soon as possible and extend your hire for equivalent time lost. The customer must be aware that we are restricted by car ferry times and tides when replacing vehicles and will not be held liable for delays in delivering vehicles as a result of these conditions. We will ensure you are not left stranded and will have Fraser Island Taxi service get you back to your accommodation ONLY if the vehicle is needing to be towed and will not get you back to your accommodation.

If extending your hire is not possible, we calculate your refund using the following method:- 
We allow 10 usable hours per day for the vehicle 
We divide the cost you have paid per day by 10 (usable hours/day) leaving us with a dollar per hour figure 
We multiply the number of hours lost by the dollar per hour and refund this amount.

Although we will attempt to resolve the problem as quickly as possible, we do not compensate for:

  • Personal stress and anguish due to a mechanical breakdown
  • Missing connecting travel arrangements
  • Use of any other unapproved travel means, or accommodation.
  • For having missed places you wished to travel to if you are unable to extend your hire or tides do not allow.
  • Time lost due to mechanical failure through no fault of the company

We do not refund money for hires cut short due to:

  • Bad weather (unless directed by Queensland parks or Queensland Police personnel to leave the Island)
  • Shortening of the rental period by the hirer – unless it can be rehired for that same period
  • Cars taken from the hirer due to abuse or misuse.

 

TOWING OF TRAILERS or CAMPER TRAILERS IS NOT PERMITTED WITH ANY OF OUR HIRE VEHICLES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

ROOF RACKS ARE AVAILABLE FOR HIRE AT A COST OF $20 PER DAY ADDITIONAL CHARGE TO VEHICLE RENTAL.
